Why it is time for Darelle Revis to come home

From the start, the Jets knew they had something special in Revis. He was not your ordinary 1st round Cornerback, he was different, different in a good way. Revis brought something new to the game and absolutely thrived in his role. For about 3-4 seasons he was the best player in the NFL defensively and arguably the best Cornerback ever. He shut down Chad Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Vincent Jackson, and Randy Moss all in big playoff games. This showed everyone what he was made of and capable of doing. Revis packed up your suitcase and sent you off to an island, "Revis Island" to be precise.

When the Jets traded Revis, I remember being happy. It sounded like John Idzik was fleecing the Buccaneers. The trade ended up working out perfectly, the Jets got DROY, Sheldon Richardson and Antonio Cromartie stepped up to be the #1 Corner. The Bucaaneers ended up cutting Revis 1 year 1/2 later. There right at John Idzik's front porch was Revis, waiting to become a New York Jet again. The feeling was not mutual, John Idzik decided not to pursue him and clear cap space. That descion proved costly, when the Patriots came out of nowhere and signed him. Now to every Jets fan, Revis had betrayed them, he had gone to the dark side.

Without Darrelle Revis, the Patriots are not winning Super Bowl 49. John Idzik was the clueless little boy, helping the big brother finish the puzzle. Revis was that missing piece to the puzzle and did not miss a beat. He arguably was one of the best Cornerbacks in the NFL last season. Now that he is a free agent, it is time for the Jets to bring him home. He belongs here, he has always belonged, and never should have left. Yes,the holdouts were fairly annoying, but obviously they were worth it in the end. Some think $17 million per year is too much for a Cornerback, Revis is not a "Cornerback", he's a "Shutdown Cornerback" and deserves whatever money comes his way. He is the greatest Jet ever, not named Joe Namath. It is time for Mike Maccagnan to bring Revis home, and learn from Idizk's hideous mistakes.
