Should the Mets buy or sell?

The last time the New York Mets made a trade near July 31st (The MLB trading deadline) was July 28th, 2011. The Mets traded Carlos Beltran for former 1st-round pick, Zack Wheeler. Looking back on this trade, the Mets fleeced the Giants and fleecing is usually what Sandy Alderson has done in trades.

He has acquired John Buck, Noah Syndergaard, Wilmuer Beccera, Travis d'Arnaud, Zack Thorton, Blake Taylor, Dilson Herrera, Victor Black, Kyle Johnson, Allan Dystrka, Ramon Ramirez, Andres Torres, Kelly Shoppach, Colin Cowgill, and Eric Young Jr via trade. Many of these names are not familiar or even "household" names, but Sandy Alderson has built a strong farm system via trade and, it's time to acquire MLB talent via trade.

10 Scouts where at Safeco Field today, reportedly checking out Mets players (most importantly Bartolo Colon) Bartolo pitched his heart out, like he would never pitch for the Mets again. He flirted with a perfect for 6 2/3 innings and was 7 outs from the 1st Perfect Game in New York Mets history.

His trade value is the highest it's ever going to be, and that's why Sandy Alderson should deal him immediately. Alderson will be reluctant to trade Colon unless he gets back players that will help the Mets in the future and the other team will eat most of the $11 million Colon is due next season.

Proposed trade: Bartolo Colon to the Baltimore Orioles for Franciso Peguero & Mike Wright (Two prospects, who could help the Mets immediately) The Mets eat $3 million from Colon's contract next season, while the Orioles would eat the other $8 million.

Other proposed trade: Bartolo Colon to the San Francisco Giants for Joe Panik, Heath Hembree, and a Player to be named later. The Mets would eat $5 million from Colon's contract next season, while the Giants would eat the other $6 million.

A very far fetched trade, that would gain approval of the fan base and fill more seats: Noah Syndergaard, Brandon Nimmo, Dillon Gee, and Rafael Montero for Troy Tulowitzki & cash.

Hopefully the Mets buy & sell at the deadline, and acquire assets to help their future. All we can do now is wait, and Lets Go Mets!!

Crazy's review of the Mets 1st week.

Today is April 8th, later tonight Bartolo Colon will take on Ex-Met Aaron Harang.

Last week had it's ups and downs if you were a Mets fan. I'm a Mets fan, and I hate to admit it sometimes. The first series of the season explained why. I will also admit I was one of the many to jump off ship, just after game 3 vs the Nationals. This bullpen is still a huge question mark and may lose the Mets too many games this season. The loss of Bobby Parnell is a big shot to the leg, but Sandy Alderson needs to get a Veteran RP to stop the bleeding. Household names like Kevin Gregg, Joel Hanrahan, and Ryan Madson come to mind.

This team, besides the bullpen has the talent to between 80-85 games this season. They showed me that vs the Reds. They have the fight in them to win, but when you can't hit and your pitching pitches good enough to win, there is something wrong.

Yes, the Mets are missing that Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Mike Trout, Robinson Cano, etc. type of guy,  but they do have David Wright. When he has protection, the guy can hit, and right now he is doing way too much. At least he is trying to. Basically what I'm trying to say is go trade Montero/Flores/Davis and get a 253/25/70 First Baseman.

The Mets may go 77-85 or 85-77, this team may be fun to watch or they may not, but in the end it's way to early to freak out at 2-4. Remember the 86 Mets started off 2-3.

Crazy's very early Jets Mock

As we all the know the NFL ended in a dreadful way last Sunday, but for some reason some of us (me) want football back already. So I will do a Jets mock draft for all my Jets followers.

1st Round: Jace Amaro TE (Texas A&M)
Jace Amaro is a big play, big hands TE. He was a big target for Manziel, and Geno needs a big target. Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Winslow simply didn't get the job done. I expect Cumberland to compliment Amaro as the #2 TE.

2nd Round: Marcus Roberson CB (Florida)
I know a CB? Really? Yes, but Cromartie is clearly not the same Corner, Milliner has come around and Wilson is a ok #3. The good thing about Roberson is he can flat out cover and he's very physical. The only thing he needs to watch out for is being too physical down field. Otherwise, very good pick.

3rd Round (From Tampa Bay) Christian Jones ILB (Florida State)
Jets need to get younger at the LB position. Jones is that missing piece. Great in coverage and great with his feet. Clearly a Rex Ryan guy.

3rd Round: Dakota Dozier G (Furman)
Not a "sexy" pick, but it gets the job done. Dozier is a very good pass blocker and will help Geno. Also could possibly succeed the ailing Willie Colon.

4th Round: Craig Loston S (LSU)
A standout safety who is the complete opposite of the awful, Dawan Landry.

5th Round: Ryan Grant WR (Tulane)
Jets need WR's, but this draft is deep. Plus they have money coming off the books and there is a lot of good FA WR's.
Grant is a steal in Round 5.

6th Round: Terrance West RB (Townson)
West has a pro body with explosive running ability. He would be a good #2 to Chris Ivory, because Bilal Powell isn't.

7th Round: Devon Kennard OLB (USC)
Good 7th round pick. A nice LB for Rex to groom.
