The disaster that this the Conforto-Cuddyer situation

On June 30th, Michael Cuddyer injured his knee. Today is July 23rd, and he is somehow still on the active roster. Cuddyer is obviously hurting and the Mets keep trying to keep him alive. Giving him two Advil's a day, is not going to make his knee pain go away.

Michael Conforto is ready to come up and the Mets would rather play with a 24 man roster than add him. I do not know whether it is the fact that the Mets do not want to pay a meaningless minor league contract or that they want to baby another prospect. Conforto went to college, and played college ball, he is the most MLB ready prospect that the Mets have and how could it hurt to call him up?

Nobody has ever asked Conforto to be the Mets savior, they are just asking him to hit better than AAAA players Kirk Nieuwenhuis and John Mayberry Jr. The Mets have zero depth on their roster and they would rather play with 24 guys than AAAA players.

Michael Cuddyer has not been worth his contract and keeping him on this roster only harms the Mets. I am not one for rushing prospects, but it is time for Conforto to come up. If Conforto thinks he is ready then I believe he is ready, it cannot hurt to promote him and replace an ailing Cuddyer.

This move would please the fan base, but the last thing Sandy Alderson is looking to do ,is to appease the Mets loyal fan base. The Mets are dying for help, and Conforto could be the help they need. Who knows if he could actually contribute, but only time will tell. It is time for the most conservative franchise in the history of sports to take a risk for once.
